In a significant political development, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed a wide range of national and state-related issues, including the ongoing war-like situation in the Gulf region.

During the high-level meeting, Shinde assured full support from the Shiv Sena to the Centre, stating that as a key ally of the NDA, the party stands firmly with the government in safeguarding national interests during the crisis. Important development projects related to Maharashtra and infrastructure initiatives were also part of the discussions.

Shiv Sena Extends Full Support to Centre

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shinde emphasised that unity is crucial during sensitive times. He reiterated that the Shiv Sena is committed to supporting the central government’s decisions, especially in matters of national security and foreign policy.

He also highlighted the Centre’s diplomatic efforts, particularly in ensuring the safe return of Indian oil tankers from the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a result of strong international relations with Gulf countries.

Attack on Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks

Shinde launched a sharp attack on Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of making controversial statements at a time when the country is facing sensitive geopolitical challenges. He alleged that such remarks harm national interest and appear aimed at gaining attention in international media.

Relief for Maharashtra Citizens Stranded in Gulf

The Deputy Chief Minister also provided an update on the safe return of citizens from Maharashtra who were stranded in Gulf cities such as Kuwait, Dubai, and Muscat. He confirmed that all affected individuals have been safely brought back to Mumbai and Pune with the Centre’s assistance.

LPG Shortage Rumours Dismissed

Addressing concerns over fuel availability, Shinde dismissed rumours about a shortage of LPG cylinders in Maharashtra. He accused opposition parties, including Congress and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), of spreading misinformation that led to panic and black-marketing.

He assured that there is no shortage of LPG in the state and warned that strict action will be taken against hoarders and those involved in creating artificial scarcity.

Rajya Sabha Win and Political Meetings

Shinde also announced that Dr Jyoti Waghmare has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha, describing her as a capable leader with a deep understanding of issues affecting the underprivileged.

Later, he met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla at Parliament House in the presence of Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Piyush Goyal, along with Shiv Sena MPs.

Fadnavis Set for Key BJP Meeting

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is scheduled to visit New Delhi on Wednesday to attend a meeting of the BJP’s central election committee. Sources indicate that discussions on ticket distribution have intensified following the announcement of elections in five states, making the coming days crucial for political strategy.
