Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Police has announced significant traffic curbs along the Western Express Highway on Monday in light of a high-profile diplomatic visit to the city.

As per the official notification, Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will not be permitted to operate on the key arterial stretch from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on February 17, resulting in a 13-hour restriction window. The ban will apply in both directions between Vakola Flyover and Dahisar Toll Naka.

Authorities stated that the temporary measures are part of comprehensive security planning for the visiting dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of India and the President of France. The aim is to ensure smooth convoy movement while minimizing traffic bottlenecks on one of Mumbai’s busiest corridors.

Emergency services such as ambulances, fire brigade units, police vehicles and official vehicles assigned to security duties will be allowed to pass through the restricted zone.
