Mumbai: Speculation over the next Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra has intensified after senior NCP MP Praful Patel made a key statement regarding Rajya Sabha MP Sunetra Pawar, wife of late Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Speaking to the media, Praful Patel confirmed that NCP leaders have already initiated communication with Sunetra Pawar but stressed that any formal announcement would come only after speaking to her directly. “We have just met Sunetra Pawar and spoken to her. It would be better if I request her first and then comment,” Patel said.
Highlighting the emotional and political mood within the party, Patel added, “When public sentiment and our sentiment come together, you will see the same outcome. We only want an opportunity to speak to her once.” His remarks indicate that strong internal support is building around Sunetra Pawar taking on a larger leadership role.
Praful Patel also pointed out the urgency of the situation in the state government. “At present, the post of Deputy Chief Minister is vacant and needs to be filled. We are in the process of completing this as soon as possible,” he stated, suggesting that a decision may not be far away.
