Mumbai: Congress leader Vijay Namdevrao Wadettiwar has voiced strong opinions on two pressing issues facing Maharashtra—internal accountability within the NCP and the state’s economic challenges as highlighted in the Economic Survey 2026.

Speaking on a recent statement by NCP (SP) leader and former minister Rajesh Tope, Wadettiwar said, “This means that Rajesh Tope is linking this incident with the party meeting. If that is the case, the entire NCP should collectively demand that this matter be thoroughly investigated. There should be no attempt to avoid scrutiny. No one should be accused or made to justify themselves regarding these incidents without proper investigation…”

Wadettiwar emphasized that party unity must include transparency and accountability, urging NCP leaders to ensure a full inquiry and prevent any attempts to bypass proper examination of the matter.

Turning to Maharashtra’s finances, Wadettiwar commented on the Economic Survey 2026, which paints a challenging picture for the state. “In the economic survey, Maharashtra’s situation has already been highlighted. After studying it, it becomes clear that the state will struggle to carry out future projects, and even banks may not be able to provide credit. We have been observing the state’s finances for the past two years,” he said.

According to Wadettiwar, the survey underlines that urgent financial planning and management reforms are required to ensure smooth execution of development projects and maintain fiscal stability.
