New Delhi: On the 76th martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, describing him not just as a historical figure but as an enduring idea that continues to guide India.

In a message shared on social media, Rahul Gandhi reflected on the lasting influence of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy, stating that several forces in history tried to eliminate his ideas but failed. He emphasised that Gandhi’s belief in truth, courage, and non-violence remains stronger than hatred, violence, or misuse of power.

Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Mahatma Gandhi is not a man, but a thought—that thought which an empire once tried, a hateful ideology once tried, and an arrogant power once tried, to erase, all in vain. Yet the Father of the Nation gave us this fundamental mantra along with freedom: that the power of truth is greater than the might of power, and that non-violence and courage are greater than violence and fear. This thought cannot be erased, for Gandhi is immortal in the soul of India. Humble tribute to Bapu on his martyrdom day.”

The Congress leader’s message highlighted Gandhian values as timeless principles rather than ideas limited to a particular era. He underlined that Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings continue to hold relevance in modern India, especially at a time when social and political challenges test democratic values.
