“Ei Sarkar Palano Dorkaar, Chai BJP Sarkar”: PM Modi Sounds Bengal Poll Battle Cry from Malda

Malda: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election push in West Bengal, delivering a high-voltage speech in Malda as the state gears up for the upcoming Assembly elections. Framing the contest as a fight for governance and development, Modi asserted that the time had come for Bengal to join the BJP’s model of administration.

Addressing a massive public gathering, the Prime Minister said, “In every corner of Bengal, there is a government of good governance under the BJP. Now it’s Bengal’s turn for good governance. That’s why, after the victory in the Bihar elections, I said that with the blessings of Ma Ganga, the river of development will now flow in Bengal as well, and the BJP will make this happen.”

Modi placed West Bengal within a broader political shift unfolding across eastern India, claiming that the region had broken free from decades of divisive politics. Highlighting BJP’s growing footprint, he said, “For decades, eastern India was held captive by those who practised divisive politics. Odisha has formed a BJP government for the first time. Tripura has trusted the BJP for many years. In the previous elections in Assam, it has shown its trust in the BJP. And Bihar has chosen the BJP-NDA government once again.”

The Prime Minister also linked the BJP’s recent urban electoral gains to a changing voter mindset, particularly among younger voters. He said India’s Gen Z had embraced the party’s development-oriented vision and cited recent municipal election victories as proof of expanding public confidence.

“The BJP has secured a record victory for the first time in Mumbai, in the BMC, one of the world’s largest municipal corporations, which is a significant development in Maharashtra politics. A few days ago, the BJP also elected its first mayor in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. This shows that even in places where winning elections was once considered impossible for the BJP,” Modi said.

Turning his focus to West Bengal’s political landscape, the Prime Minister launched a direct attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government. Switching to Bengali for emphasis, Modi declared, “Ei sarkar palano dorkaar,” triggering loud cheers from the crowd. He then urged the audience to respond with the slogan “Chai BJP sarkar.”

Accusing the state government of deliberately obstructing central welfare initiatives, Modi questioned why Bengal’s poor were being denied benefits available elsewhere. “The TMC government here ruthlessly obstructs all initiatives aimed at benefiting the poor. Shouldn’t you be receiving the benefits of this free electricity scheme? Who is creating these obstacles?” he asked.
