BSF 166th Battalion Celebrates Lohri with Traditional Fervour in Handwara

Srinagar: The festival of Lohri was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour by the 166th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Handwara, marking the spirit of unity and camaraderie. 

All Officers and jawans of the battalion participated wholeheartedly in the celebrations, creating a vibrant and joyful atmosphere within the BSF campus.

On the occasion, a traditional bonfire was lit, around which BSF personnel gathered to observe Lohri rituals. Offerings such as peanuts, rewari, sesame seeds and popcorn were offered into the bonfire, symbolising prosperity, happiness and good fortune. The officers and jawans exchanged greetings and wished each other peace, prosperity and well-being.

The celebrations also featured traditional folk songs, reflecting the rich cultural heritage associated with Lohri. Despite being stationed away from their families, the BSF personnel celebrated the festival together, strengthening the bond of brotherhood and boosting morale among the troops.

Officers of the 166th Battalion extended their greetings to all ranks and appreciated the spirit of togetherness displayed during the celebrations. They highlighted the importance of preserving cultural traditions while performing duties in challenging conditions.
