Delhi: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday asserted that the armed forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to launch ground operations if Pakistan commits any provocation, making it clear that Operation Sindoor is still active and ongoing.
Speaking at the Indian Army’s annual press conference, General Dwivedi said the force had carried out large-scale mobilisation during Operation Sindoor and continues to maintain a high state of operational readiness. He underlined that India’s surveillance and response mechanisms remain fully active, ensuring that any hostile move is detected and countered without delay.
“Operation Sindoor has not concluded. Our monitoring systems are fully operational, and whatever actions were required have already been initiated. Any future misadventure will be met with a firm and decisive response,” the Army Chief said.
Reflecting on the broader security environment, General Dwivedi noted that 2025 witnessed a significant rise in armed conflicts globally, reinforcing the importance of preparedness. He said Operation Sindoor showcased India’s military capability, strategic clarity and precision in responding to cross-border terrorism.
On the north-western front, the Army Chief said the situation remains largely stable but requires constant vigilance. He added that sustained dialogue, top-level military interactions and confidence-building measures have contributed to gradual normalisation along certain sectors, allowing limited civilian activities such as grazing and welfare camps to resume in border areas.
Addressing deployment along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), General Dwivedi stated that India’s posture remains balanced and robust. He added that infrastructure development and capability enhancement are progressing steadily through a coordinated, whole-of-government approach.
Recalling India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Army Chief said a clear decision was taken at the highest level to respond decisively. He explained that Operation Sindoor was executed with speed and accuracy, striking deep terror infrastructure and altering long-held strategic assumptions.
