Kolkata: In a landmark administrative decision, the West Bengal government has appointed senior IAS officer Nandini Chakraborty as the new Chief Secretary, making her the first woman to hold the state’s top bureaucratic post. The appointment comes after the superannuation of outgoing Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, who has now been entrusted with the role of Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.

A 1994-batch IAS officer, Chakraborty is known for her extensive administrative experience and steady leadership across key departments of the state government. Over the years, she has handled several crucial responsibilities, earning a reputation for efficiency and institutional knowledge.
