Patna: The ongoing tensions inside the Lalu Prasad Yadav family escalated further on Thursday, as Rohini Acharya — daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad — issued another sharp and emotional public statement, hinting at deepening cracks within the family and the party.
After recently announcing that she had cut ties with her family and quit politics, Rohini has now released a powerful message urging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to ensure that “every daughter in the state can return to her parental home without fear, guilt, shame, or the need to justify her existence.”
Her post on social media took aim at what she called superficial schemes like cash incentives and bicycles for girls, saying such initiatives fail to address the deeper cultural barriers faced by women.
Rohini wrote that Bihar’s “patriarchal mindset” continues to trap women in fear and silence, demanding a structural shift in governance and society.
She emphasised that daughters must be guaranteed emotional and physical safety — especially inside their own homes — and that this duty goes beyond government policy, becoming a moral and social obligation.
Rohini’s renewed outburst comes weeks after her explosive declaration on November 15, where she said she had been bullied into quitting politics. She had publicly accused Tejashwi Yadav’s aides — Sanjay Yadav and Rameez — of humiliating her and even claimed that someone raised a slipper to hit her.
The Lalu family has been witnessing multiple internal fractures, including the fall-out surrounding Tej Pratap Yadav, Lalu’s eldest son. Tej Pratap was expelled from RJD for six years after a controversial social media post and has since launched his own political outfit, the Janshakti Janata Dal. He has also openly targeted Sanjay Yadav, calling him “Jaichand”.
