Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a special dinner on Thursday evening for MPs of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), marking a renewed show of unity and collective purpose within the ruling coalition. The gathering, held at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, brought together leaders from across the country who travelled together in buses — a symbolic gesture of shared commitment and coordinated leadership.

According to officials present, the dinner meet was more than just a courtesy gesture. It was aimed at building momentum after the NDA’s sweeping victory in the recently concluded Bihar Assembly elections, where the coalition secured an overwhelming majority with 202 seats in the 243-member House. The BJP won 89 seats, JD(U) clinched 85, LJP (Ram Vilas) secured 19, while Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha won five and four seats respectively.

During the interaction with MPs, Prime Minister Modi reiterated the “collective spirit” that binds the NDA. Describing the alliance as a “family with a common vision,” he wrote on X, “The NDA family represents a shared commitment to good governance, national development and regional aspirations. Together, we will continue working to strengthen our nation’s development journey in the years ahead.”

Modi also used the occasion to underline the responsibilities that come with the coalition’s growing mandate. At a separate parliamentary party meeting earlier this week, he noted that India had entered a phase of “full-fledged reform express,” where transformative changes were taking place with speed and clear intent. He stressed that these reforms were citizen-centric — designed not merely to adjust economic parameters but to remove everyday barriers that prevent people from achieving their full potential.

NDA leaders from Bihar had met Modi earlier on Monday to felicitate him for the coalition’s historic win. The Prime Minister advised them to work “with even greater energy,” reminding them that “with great victory comes great responsibility.”
