Patna: In a decisive show of unity and strength, the Janata Dal (United) on Wednesday unanimously elected Nitish Kumar as the leader of its legislative party, paving the way for his grand swearing-in ceremony scheduled for November 20 at the iconic Gandhi Maidan. The endorsement formally confirms that Nitish Kumar will return as Chief Minister, marking an extraordinary milestone as he prepares to begin his tenth term at the helm of Bihar.

The JD(U) meeting, attended by all party MLAs, was characterised by a confident and cohesive atmosphere, signalling that the party stands firmly behind Kumar’s leadership. Senior leaders asserted that the decision reflects the widespread belief within the party that Bihar needs a “stable, seasoned, and development-driven administrator” at a time when political equations are rapidly evolving.

Nitish Kumar, known for his razor-sharp political instincts and ability to navigate complex coalitions, has long been regarded as the architect of modern Bihar’s governance model. His return for a tenth term not only highlights his enduring influence but also underscores his role as a central figure in the state’s political machinery for nearly two decades.

Speaking after the internal meeting, Kumar hinted at unveiling a new development roadmap once he assumes office again. Sources indicated that this roadmap may include fresh welfare measures, accelerated infrastructure plans, and policy revamps designed to align with the state’s shifting socio-economic priorities. The Chief Minister-designate is also expected to leverage the new political alignment to push for stronger coordination between alliance partners and administrative departments.
