Patna: Preparations are now in full swing for the formation of Bihar’s new government following the recent Assembly election results. On Monday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chaired the final cabinet meeting of the outgoing NDA government and subsequently met Governor Arif Mohammad Khan to initiate the formal transition process.
During the meeting, the cabinet unanimously passed a resolution authorising the Chief Minister to recommend the dissolution of the Assembly, paving the way for the resignation of the outgoing government. Sources confirmed that Kumar is expected to submit his resignation to the Governor on November 19, marking the start of the transition to a new government after NDA’s decisive victory in the polls.
Following the election results, coalition leaders held discussions with Nitish Kumar in Patna regarding the formation of the new government. While there had been speculation about a potential new face taking over the Chief Minister’s post, BJP leaders have now confirmed that Nitish Kumar will continue as Chief Minister.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Tarakishore Prasad addressed the media, outlining the process for the new government. He stated that the BJP legislature party meeting will be held on Tuesday, followed by the NDA legislature party meeting, during which Nitish Kumar will be formally elected as the leader.
Prasad further clarified that there are no disputes over the Deputy Chief Minister post and that all decisions will be taken by the party leadership. He also confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will be a grand event, reflecting the NDA’s strong mandate in the state.
