Rohini Acharya’s Explosive Exit Rocks RJD: Lalu’s Daughter Accuses Tejashwi Camp of ‘Throwing Her Out’

Patna: In a dramatic political twist that has deepened the post-election turmoil within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Rohini Acharya — daughter of party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav — publicly alleged on Saturday that she was forced out of the family by her brother Tejashwi Yadav and his close circle. Her comments have sent shockwaves across Bihar’s political landscape, exposing widening cracks in the powerful Yadav family.

Rohini, who announced earlier in the day that she was quitting politics and distancing herself from the family, spoke to reporters upon landing at Patna Airport. Visibly emotional, she claimed that Tejashwi, along with his aides Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, were responsible for isolating her.

“I have no family anymore. Go and ask Sanjay, Rameez, and Tejashwi — they are the ones who pushed me out,” Rohini told journalists, triggering an immediate political storm.

She linked her ouster to internal resentment after the RJD’s disappointing performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, suggesting that anyone questioning accountability for the party’s electoral collapse was being sidelined. “If people want to act like strategists, they should also be ready to answer for the defeat,” she said.

Rohini alleged that uttering the names of Sanjay and Rameez within the party had become unsafe. She claimed they wielded the influence to “throw you out of the house, make people insult you, or even get you hit with a slipper,” describing an atmosphere of fear and coercion.

Earlier in the day, she had posted a cryptic but explosive note on social media announcing her exit from politics, stating she was “disowning” her family at the behest of Sanjay and Rameez. Political watchers interpret her outburst as a pressure tactic aimed at Tejashwi, who has avoided taking immediate action against Sanjay Yadav — a figure increasingly criticised for his growing clout.

Sources quoted by News18 suggested that neither Lalu Prasad nor Rabri Devi had pushed Tejashwi to intervene. However, tensions reportedly escalated during the Tejashwi Yatra when Sanjay was seen occupying Tejashwi’s seat — a move that angered several party members, including Rohini.

The RJD’s dismal tally of 25 seats, compared to the NDA’s sweeping 202, has intensified internal power struggles. Although Rohini actively campaigned for Tejashwi, insiders say her displeasure had been building for months.
