“No Sorrow in Defeat, No Arrogance in Victory”: RJD Responds After Bihar Poll Rout as Rahul Gandhi Flags ‘Unfair’ Election

Patna: A day after suffering a major setback in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) issued its first public response—one marked by humility, resolve, and a renewed commitment to its core supporters.

Sharing a reflective message on X, the party stated: “Public service is an unceasing process, an endless journey! Ups and downs are inevitable in it. No sorrow in defeat, no arrogance in victory!” Reaffirming its dedication to marginalised communities, the RJD added: “The Rashtriya Janata Dal is the party of the poor, it will continue to raise their voice among the poor!”

The message appeared aimed at calming party workers and supporters in the wake of the alliance’s disappointing performance, while signalling that the RJD intends to regroup rather than retreat.

Meanwhile, as counting entered its final stages on Friday, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also issued a statement addressing the outcome. Gandhi thanked the people of Bihar for their support to the Mahagathbandhan, saying millions had “expressed their trust” in the alliance.

However, he also alleged that the electoral process was compromised from the beginning. He claimed that the Mahagathbandhan’s loss stemmed from an uneven playing field, asserting that the elections “were not fair from the very beginning.”

In his social media post, Rahul Gandhi further said: “I express my heartfelt gratitude to those millions of voters in Bihar who expressed their trust in the Mahagathbandhan.” He reiterated his pledge to uphold constitutional values and “save democracy,” reflecting the Opposition’s broader concerns about institutional integrity.
