NDA Powers Toward Landslide in Bihar as Early Trends Show Massive Lead for Nitish–Modi Combine

Patna: As the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 picks up pace, early trends indicate a sweeping mandate in favour of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), positioning Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for one of the strongest victories of his political career.

By 11:45 am, the NDA had built a commanding lead with 188 seats, driven by a revitalised JD(U)-BJP partnership. The BJP leads in 85 seats, JD(U) in 75, LJP in 22, HAM in 4, and RLM in 3, according to Election Commission data.

In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan appears significantly behind, with the RJD leading in 36 seats, Congress in 6, CPI(ML) in 7, CPI-M and VIP in 1 seat each, totalling 51. AIMIM is ahead in three seats, while BSP leads in one.

Nitish Kumar’s Political Comeback

For Nitish Kumar, who has steered Bihar for almost 20 years, this election was widely portrayed as a test of credibility and endurance. Once hailed as Sushashan Babu for turning the state away from the era infamously referred to as “jungle raj,” he has recently faced criticism for frequent alliances shifts and growing voter fatigue.

However, today’s trends suggest a reversal in public sentiment — one where Bihar’s voters have renewed their trust in his governance model marked by welfare delivery, rural development, social schemes, and administrative stability.

The renewed JD(U)-BJP partnership, backed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national appeal, has dramatically altered the electoral narrative. The duo campaigned as a united, reinvigorated force — a strategy that appears to be paying off with a historic mandate.
