Delhi: A purported notice claiming that Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University (DBUU) would award 50 internal marks to students for attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Dehradun went viral on Saturday. The notice was widely shared on X (formerly Twitter) by lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan.
The notice reportedly instructed all B.Tech CSE (2nd Year) and BCA (2nd Year) students to attend the Prime Minister’s event at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) on Sunday, November 9. It claimed that attendance would be credited under the Bharatiya Gyan Parampara (Indian Knowledge System) course, with 50 internal marks awarded to each participant.
The document appeared to be issued in the names of BCA Head of Department Rohit Goyal and B.Tech CSE Programme Coordinator Govind Singh Panwar. However, it lacked official signatures, seals, or any formal authorization.
DBUU quickly responded to the circulation of the notice, posting on Facebook:
“It has come to our attention that a fake notice has been circulated in the name of DBUU regarding marks for the upcoming visit to FRI on 09 November 2025. We would like to clarify that the notice is completely false and not issued or approved by the University. It does not bear any official signature, reference number, or authorisation.”
The university later released a signed official notification reiterating that the document was “completely fake” and not released through any authorised channel. DBUU alumnus Rajeev Karn also shared the official letter dated November 8, confirming the falsity of the circulated notice, noting that it lacked key details such as a date, signature, and reference number.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit corroborated the claim, confirming that the notice circulating online was fabricated.
