Mumbai: The Mumbai Police has summoned Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange-Patil and five of his associates to appear before the investigating officer at Azad Maidan Police Station on November 10, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The summons pertain to alleged violations committed during Jarange-Patil’s hunger strike at Azad Maidan earlier this year.

The investigation revolves around the breach of permission conditions and non-compliance with Bombay High Court guidelines regarding public demonstrations. Officials claim that during the protest, several rules were flouted, including crowd management and safety norms.

Jarange-Patil, who has been at the forefront of the Maratha reservation movement, had staged a prolonged fast demanding reservation rights for the Maratha community in government jobs and education. His protests have drawn massive public support across Maharashtra, but have also raised law and order concerns for the authorities.
