Mumbai: A fresh political storm has erupted in Maharashtra after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered an inquiry into a ₹300-crore land transaction allegedly linked to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar. The deal reportedly involves the sale of 40 acres of government-owned “Mahar Vatan” land to Amadea Enterprises LLP, in which Parth Pawar is a partner.

Following the order, NCP-Sharad Pawar faction’s national spokesperson Anish Gawande issued a sharp response, questioning the intent behind the investigation. “We welcome transparency, but why is there no such urgency when allegations involve BJP ministers? Why are agencies like the IT, CBI, and ED used only against Opposition leaders?” Gawande asked in his statement.

He further alleged that the BJP is using such probes to pressure Ajit Pawar’s camp. “Rohit Pawar has already said BJP is trying to poach MLAs ahead of 2029. Is this inquiry another attempt to break Ajit Dada’s faction? Maharashtra deserves fairness, not politically motivated actions,” Gawande added.

Meanwhile, the state government has suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale and sub-registrar Ravindra Taru for their alleged roles in facilitating the deal. Inspector General of Registration Ravindra Binwade confirmed that a high-level committee has been formed to examine how government land was transferred to a private entity and whether the stamp duty waiver was granted as per legal norms.
