The Election Commission has suspended five Diamond Harbour police officers over alleged misconduct during the West Bengal Assembly elections

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) will hold a press conference on Monday evening to announce a pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list, officials said.

While full details are yet to be released, the first phase of the SIR is expected to cover 10 to 15 states, including those scheduled for Assembly elections in 2026. Among the states likely to be included are Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Kerala, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

The SIR process aims to ensure an updated and accurate electoral roll, allowing eligible voters to register, update details, or remove duplicates ahead of the upcoming polls.
