Chennai: Chennai witnessed heightened security this week as bomb threats targeted high-profile figures, prompting swift action by police and bomb squads.
On Friday, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s residence in Chennai received a bomb threat via email sent to the Tamil Nadu DGP’s office. Security forces, including a specialized bomb squad, immediately conducted a thorough search of the Vice President’s premises. After inspection, officials confirmed no explosives were found, and the threat was declared a hoax. Authorities are now investigating the source of the email.
Earlier, renowned music director Ilaiyaraaja’s studio in T Nagar also received a similar bomb threat. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and police conducted an extensive search, confirming it was a hoax.
Last week, actor-politician Vijay’s residence in Neelangarai, Tamil Nadu, received a threatening phone call. The caller, reportedly from Kanyakumari, warned of a bomb if Vijay held public meetings. Police investigated and confirmed the threat was false.
