Rohtak: In a shocking development, Rohtak’s SP Narendra Bijarniya has been removed from his post and replaced by Surendra Singh Bhoria following his mention in the FIR linked to the tragic death of senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, former Inspector General (IG) of Rohtak Range. Puran Kumar allegedly ended his life on October 7, citing “mental harassment and corruption” within the Haryana Police.

An official order stated, “The Governor of Haryana is pleased to make posting/transfer of following IPS officers with immediate effect.”

Investigating officers recovered an eight-page suicide note and a written will from Puran Kumar’s residence. In the note, he reportedly named 10 senior officers, including officials of DGP, ADGP, and SP rank, accusing them of “continuous mental harassment” and deliberate professional humiliation. While the Chandigarh Police has not officially disclosed the names, sources suggest the allegations may be tied to a corruption case in Rohtak—an investigation originally initiated by Puran Kumar himself.

The note reportedly described severe mental distress following his transfer and professional isolation, which contributed to his deteriorating mental health.

In response, Chandigarh Police has formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IGP Chandigarh Pushpendra Kumar to ensure a “prompt, impartial and thorough investigation.” The team includes Chandigarh SSP Kanwardeep Kaur, SP City K M Priyanka, DSP Charanjit Singh Virk, and officers Gurjit Kaur and Jaiveer Rana.

The official order stated, “In view of the gravity and sensitivity of allegations in the case… an SIT is hereby constituted with immediate effect to conduct a prompt, impartial, and thorough investigation of the case under the supervision of IGP, UT, Chandigarh. The SIT shall investigate all aspects of FIR No 156/2025, including evidence collection, witness examination, take expert opinions, legal advice, etc., in a time-bound manner and prepare a final report upon completion.”
