New Delhi: Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh on Friday (October 3) praised the Indian Armed Forces for the resounding success of Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir following the April 22 Pahalgam attack.

Speaking to the media, Singh revealed that Pakistan fighter jets, including US-made F-16s and Chinese J-17s, were destroyed, along with key airbases and strategic installations. “We struck radars at four locations, command and control centres at two sites, runways at two places, and three hangars across different stations. There is evidence of one C-130-class aircraft and at least five high-tech fighters, likely F-16s and JF-17s, being hit,” he said.

The IAF Chief also highlighted the success of India’s long-range surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), noting a historic strike of over 300 km inside enemy territory, damaging a significant aircraft, possibly an AEW&C. “Along with that, one SAM system has been destroyed,” Singh added.

Singh underscored the strategic restraint shown by India, stating that when Pakistan approached New Delhi for a ceasefire, India chose to end hostilities after achieving all its objectives. “This war began with a clear goal and ended quickly without prolonging conflict. The world can learn from the way we planned and executed this mission,” he said.

Praising the armed forces, Singh said, “During Operation Sindoor, we proved that we are ‘Achook’ (infallible), ‘Abhedya’ (impenetrable), and ‘Sateek’ (accurate). All three services worked in perfect coordination to execute this operation.”

Operation Sindoor, launched on the night of May 6-7, successfully destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. When Pakistan attempted retaliatory drone strikes on Indian cities, Indian forces hit 11 Pakistani airbases, inflicting significant damage. On May 10, Pakistan’s DGMO requested a ceasefire, marking the formal end of hostilities.
