Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has assured citizens that the state government is actively working to address the persistent pothole issue in Bengaluru city.

Speaking on the ongoing road concerns, Shivakumar said, “Regarding Bengaluru city, we are going to change the conceptions and perceptions that have been created. So, we are going to set it. We are at it. It is our job. Nowhere in the country, the government offered the public to show where your potholes are. It is only Karnataka.”

Highlighting the challenges of managing the city’s traffic, he added, “In Bengaluru, you have more than 1.2 crore registered vehicles, and more than 50 lakh vehicles come into Bengaluru daily. Still, we are doing it, and it is our job.”

The Deputy CM’s comments come amid rising public frustration over road safety and damaged vehicles due to potholes. The government has reportedly introduced a system allowing citizens to report potholes directly, a first-of-its-kind initiative in India. Shivakumar emphasized that tackling road issues remains a top priority and that the state administration is committed to providing safer and smoother roads for Bengaluru residents.
