Baramulla: In the heart of North Kashmir, a story of grit, courage, and inspiration is unfolding. At just 17, Sana Jan, a Class 12 student and trainee at Chinar Yuva Centre, Baramulla, has brought pride to the Valley by clinching a bronze medal at the 24th Junior Wushu National Championship in Hyderabad.
Her remarkable feat has placed Baramulla firmly on India’s sporting map and ignited fresh hope among young athletes who aspire to follow in her footsteps.
Sana’s achievement has drawn widespread appreciation from across the region. Eminent educationist Dr Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo hailed her as a symbol of “Nari Shakti” and the “Pride of Baramulla.” Known as a beacon of social and educational change in Kashmir, Dr Chalkoo praised Sana’s determination, describing her journey as an inspiration for generations to come.
Adding to the recognition, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa (IAS), felicitated Sana for her national triumph. He lauded her perseverance and discipline, noting that her success reflects the growing sports culture in North Kashmir and urging her to continue striving for excellence.
Sana’s rise to glory has been built on years of dedication, discipline, and resilience. Competing in the Wushu/Sanda discipline under the Senior U19 category, she has consistently proven her mettle at different levels:
