Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed concerns regarding tourists stranded in Nepal and Bengali-speaking migrant workers returning to the state. She said, “I take the issue regarding the tourists stuck in Nepal seriously. I want to tell them to wait for a while till the situation becomes normal. We are monitoring the situation closely and will bring all of you back soon.”

On the matter of Bengali-speaking migrants, Banerjee added, “We want to be clear that we will speak our mother tongue, that is Bengali. But we respect other languages…The migrant workers returning to Bengal will get Rs. 5000 each and will be able to admit their children to the nearest school.”
