Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav sharply criticized the implementation of the Special Identification Roll (SIR) in Bihar, terming it as a setback for the state and accusing the BJP of orchestrating a conspiracy.
Speaking on the issue, Yadav said, “This is Bihar’s misfortune. Many voters’ names are being removed continuously, numerous people lack the necessary documents, and many who live outside Bihar are still voting here. This is not a coincidence but a deliberate conspiracy by the BJP, using the Election Commission as its front.”
He emphasized that Bihar needed a special development package and special state status to truly progress. “No one opposes SIR itself, but its current execution is problematic,” he added, blaming the Deputy Chief Minister for deflecting responsibility onto the Election Commission.
Yadav also pointed to an upcoming court hearing on the matter and expressed doubts about the Election Commission’s impartiality, stating, “Often, the Election Commission disregards even Supreme Court directives. It is misusing its constitutional status.”
