Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday came down heavily on the Congress party after all the accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case were acquitted by the special NIA court due to lack of evidence. The Chief Minister accused the Congress of orchestrating a deliberate campaign to defame Hindu saints and patriots by promoting the “saffron terror” narrative.

Taking to social media platform X, Yogi Adityanath posted, “The acquittal of all accused in the Malegaon blast case is a living proclamation of ‘Satyamev Jayate’ (Truth Alone Triumphs). This verdict once again exposes the anti-Bharat, anti-justice, and anti-Sanatan character of Congress, which defamed millions of devotees, saints, and patriots by fabricating the false narrative of ‘saffron terrorism’.”

He further called the Congress’s actions an “unpardonable crime” against India and its spiritual heritage. “The pain and insult caused to our saints and countless patriots cannot be forgotten. Congress played politics with terrorism and tried to polarize sentiments purely for vote-bank gains,” he added.

Yogi demanded that the Congress issue a formal public apology to the nation for what he described as “hurting the sentiments of crores of Indians and staining the Sanatan legacy for political mileage.”

The Malegaon blast case, which took place in 2008, had led to the arrest of several individuals, including BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit. The term “saffron terror” was widely used during the UPA regime to describe these cases, a phrase the BJP and several Hindu organizations have consistently rejected as politically motivated.
