“Is This Patriotism or Pakistan Prem?”: Eknath Shinde Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks on India

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of defaming the country on global platforms and questioning the patriotism of Indian soldiers.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s recent remarks critical of the Indian government’s foreign policy and internal issues, Shinde said, “So, is he happy about our country’s defamation? What kind of patriotism is this?”

Shinde particularly referred to Congress’ conduct during ‘Operation Sindoor’ — India’s classified counter-insurgency operation — alleging that the Congress party had raised doubts over the Indian Armed Forces at a critical time. “Even during Operation Sindoor, Congress raised questions about our jawans… This is not patriotism. This is ‘Pakistan prem’,” he said, calling the Opposition’s stance not just irresponsible, but dangerous for national morale.

The Deputy CM further accused Rahul Gandhi of making statements that “embolden India’s enemies” and “weaken the nation’s global standing.”

“Rahul Gandhi must understand that his words carry weight. Speaking against the country in international forums and doubting the bravery of our jawans is deeply shameful,” Shinde added.
