No Bomb Blast Probe Completed Since Mumbai Blasts; SITs Always Fail: Prakash Ambedkar Demands High Court Inquiry

Mumbai – Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) Chief Prakash Ambedkar has raised serious questions over the repeated failure of governments to bring out the truth in bomb blast cases across Maharashtra, including the aftermath of the 1993 Mumbai blasts. He cited several instances — the German Bakery blast, Fergusson College cycle bomb blast, Kabhutar Khana blast, Girgaon blast, and the RSS headquarters blast — where, according to him, “the truth never came out and the investigations led nowhere.”

Ambedkar questioned why Special Investigation Teams (SITs) constituted to probe such cases consistently fail. “Why does every SIT appointed after a bomb blast fail to reach the truth? The reasons behind this repeated failure must be investigated,” he demanded, adding that the High Court has already pulled up the state government in some cases.

Ambedkar further stated that the opposition should hold the government accountable and demand answers on whether the police and SITs have conducted proper investigations. “Did the officers gather evidence thoroughly? Were innocent individuals arrested under pressure? The High Court must investigate this. Only then will the truth and credibility prevail. This is a complete failure of the government,” he said.

Citing the ongoing Somnath Suryawanshi custodial death case, Ambedkar alleged that the police are manipulating the investigation to show the death was due to a heart attack. “However, the postmortem report clearly states that the death occurred due to assault. This selective gathering of evidence is deeply disturbing and demands judicial scrutiny,” he added.

Ambedkar’s remarks have intensified demands for transparency and judicial oversight into sensitive terror and custodial cases in Maharashtra.
