Mumbai: In a heartfelt gesture underscoring the state’s commitment to inclusive education, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed the government’s full support for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His remarks came during a special screening of the film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, which focuses on the lives and challenges of children with special needs.
Organised by Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC, the screening brought together policymakers, educators, and disability rights advocates to highlight the importance of accessibility and emotional understanding in education systems. Deputy CM Shinde praised the filmmakers for their effort to shed light on a sensitive topic that often receives limited attention.
The state government is now reportedly considering policy interventions to strengthen integration efforts for special children within mainstream schools.
