Rahul Gandhi Slams Bihar Government After Patna Murder, Calls for ‘New Bihar’ Free from Fear

Patna: In the wake of the shocking murder of prominent businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has launched a scathing attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, accusing it of turning the state into “India’s crime capital.”

Taking to social media on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar, stating, “Every murder, every loot, every bullet — is a cry for change.” He further added, “Bihar today lives under the shadow of gunfire, fear, and lawlessness. Crime has become the new normal, and the government is simply ineffective.”

The murder, which occurred outside Khemka’s residence in the upscale Gandhi Maidan area on Friday night, has triggered widespread outrage and brought renewed focus to Bihar’s safety concerns just months ahead of crucial Assembly elections. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted by Bihar Police to probe the case.

Rahul Gandhi, writing in Hindi on platform X, said, “BJP and Nitish Kumar together have reduced Bihar to a state of terror. This injustice cannot be tolerated anymore. A government that cannot safeguard your children cannot be trusted with your future.”

Calling on the people of Bihar to rise above fear and vote for transformation, Gandhi urged, “It’s time to build a new Bihar — one that promises safety, justice, and prosperity for all. This vote is not just about changing the government; it’s about saving Bihar’s soul.”

In a significant gesture, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan visited the bereaved family on Saturday and assured action. “Law enforcement agencies will be made more proactive, and I believe steps in that direction have already started,” the Governor told reporters.
