“Disgusting Act”: Shiv Sena MLC Neelam Gorhe Demands Swift Action and SOPs After Pune Rape Case

Mumbai: Reacting strongly to the shocking Pune rape case, Shiv Sena MLC Dr Neelam Gorhe called the incident “a disgusting act” and demanded immediate action against the accused. She also emphasized the urgent need for stricter residential security measures and formal protocols for individuals entering housing societies.

Speaking to the media, Dr Gorhe expressed deep concern over the growing risks posed by unmonitored entries, particularly in large residential complexes. “This is a disgusting act. Action should be taken at the earliest. No one should be spared,” she said.

Dr Gorhe underlined that security lapses often contribute to such crimes and proposed the implementation of a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to regulate the movement of outsiders, especially those entering societies for deliveries or services.

“In large residential societies, there must be trained security guards. Every outsider—whether a delivery person or service staff—must be accompanied by security to and from the location they are visiting. We need to know where they are going, when they enter, and when they leave,” she said.

Dr Gorhe added that she had submitted a formal memorandum to authorities urging them to establish mandatory identification checks. “A photograph of their ID should be taken and maintained. Proper monitoring can prevent such horrific incidents. We need accountability,” she said.
