“COVID-19 Situation Under Control in Pune, No Need to Panic,” Says Maharashtra Dy CM Ajit Pawar

Pune: Amid rising public concerns over scattered COVID-19 cases, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday assured citizens that the situation in Pune remains well under control, and there is no cause for alarm.

Speaking to reporters, Pawar stated that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is being regularly updated on the COVID-19 developments in every cabinet meeting. He emphasized that Health Minister Tanaji Sawant is closely monitoring the situation and ensuring that precautionary measures are implemented wherever necessary.

“The number of COVID-19 cases in Pune is under control,” Pawar said. “The Health Minister himself is keeping a close watch on the matter… There is no need for citizens to panic. Basic precautions have been advised to the public.”

Health officials in Pune have also confirmed that no unusual surge in cases has been recorded and that local hospitals are well-prepared with isolation wards, oxygen beds, and testing infrastructure.

Public health advisories continue to recommend mask-wearing in crowded spaces, hand hygiene, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions.
