New Delhi: Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik has publicly declared that his health is in a critical state while also alleging that the central government is targeting him through a fabricated chargesheet.
Taking to social media platform X on Saturday, Malik posted a brief but alarming message in Hindi: “Condition very serious. Contact number – 96105 44972.” The post triggered concern among his supporters and political observers alike.
Just a day earlier, Malik had revealed that he had been undergoing treatment for kidney-related issues over the past month. In a heartfelt message, he stated, “Hello, friends. I have been admitted to the hospital for the last month and am suffering from kidney problems. I was fine since the day before yesterday morning but today again I had to be shifted to the ICU. My condition is becoming very serious.”
Despite his deteriorating health, Malik used his platform to challenge what he called a politically motivated attempt to defame him. “Whether I live or not, I want to tell the truth to my countrymen,” he said, alleging that the BJP-led central government was trying to trap him in a false CBI chargesheet.
Recounting an incident from his tenure as Governor, Malik claimed he was offered bribes worth ₹150 crore but rejected them, stating that he had always worked with honesty inspired by his political mentor, the late Chaudhary Charan Singh. “I continued to work honestly like my political guru… and he could never shake my integrity,” he emphasized.
Malik went on to assert that he had himself cancelled the controversial tender at the center of the allegations. “I told the Prime Minister about the corruption in this case and cancelled the tender myself. After my transfer, the tender was completed under someone else’s signature,” he stated.
In a poignant reflection on his personal circumstances, the 76-year-old said, “After 50 years in politics, I still live in a one-room house and am in debt. If I had money today, I would have gotten treatment in a private hospital.”
