New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday left for Bhuj Air Force Station in Gujarat, where he is scheduled to interact with the “courageous Air Warriors” of the Indian Air Force. Air Force Chief Air Marshal AP Singh is accompanying him during the visit, which comes amid heightened military activity and morale-boosting efforts in the wake of Operation Sindoor.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) before his departure, Singh posted: “Leaving New Delhi for Bhuj (Gujarat). Looking forward to interact with our courageous Air Warriors at Bhuj Air Force Station.”

“Also, I shall be visiting Smritivan — a memorial and museum envisioned by PM Shri @narendramodi as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the 2001 earthquake,” he added.

Located in Bhuj, Smritivan Earthquake Memorial and Museum commemorates the victims of the catastrophic earthquake that hit Gujarat on January 26, 2001, leaving thousands dead and the region in ruins. The memorial stands as a symbol of resilience and recovery, and was developed under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

This visit to Bhuj follows Singh’s tour of Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, where he met Indian Army personnel on Thursday. It marked his first interaction with troops since Operation Sindoor, India’s retaliatory strike against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack.

During his address to the soldiers in Srinagar, Singh underlined India’s strong position on terrorism, especially in the face of nuclear threats issued by Pakistan. He dismissed such threats as “irresponsible intimidation” and lauded the military’s precision and bravery.

“Operation Sindoor has sent a loud and clear message to the terrorist organisations hiding in Pakistan and their masters — that they are not safe anywhere,” the Defence Minister declared.
He added, “Our forces have shown the world that their aim is precise and pinpoint, and the task of counting is left to the enemies.”
