13 Dead in Horrific Chhattisgarh Road Accident: CM Vishnu Deo Sai Announces Rs 5 Lakh Compensation for Victims’ Families

Raipur: A tragic road accident near Saragaon on the Raipur-Balodabazar Road claimed 13 lives and left 14 others injured on Sunday, prompting swift response and condolence messages from top Chhattisgarh leaders. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday announced an ex gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

Expressing deep sorrow, CM Sai said on X, “The news of 13 people dying and 14 people getting injured in the horrific road accident in Kharora is extremely sad. Instructions have been given to the officials to provide proper treatment to the injured. In this hour of crisis, the Chhattisgarh government stands with the families of the deceased.”

According to reports, a truck collided with a trailer near Saragaon, resulting in the high-casualty accident. Most victims were returning from a local event when the tragedy struck.

Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao also expressed grief over the incident and assured justice for the victims. “13 people have died in a road accident. It is a tragic incident. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. The incident will be investigated and strict action will be taken against the culprit…The affected families will be given all the requisite help,” Sao said.

Former Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel also reacted to the tragedy, urging the government to take the increasing number of accidents in the state seriously. “The rise in such tragic incidents demands that the government strengthens road safety measures and holds responsible parties accountable,” he said.
