New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that her government will organize a Maha Aarti at the Yamuna River as part of a renewed push to restore and honor the sacred water body. Speaking at the Anandam Programme alongside spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Gupta asserted that those who have polluted or wronged Maa Yamuna will never find peace.

The event, also attended by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, saw the Chief Minister highlight past efforts to clean the Yamuna, particularly recalling the Art of Living’s mass cleanliness drive that removed thousands of trucks of garbage from the river’s banks.

“Under the leadership of PM Modi, I, my entire Cabinet, and all of our seven MPs have decided to clean Maa Yamuna and build a grand riverfront. We will organize a Maha Aarti there,” Gupta declared, reinforcing her government’s commitment to rejuvenating the river.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Somnath Shivling’s Miraculous Return
In a remarkable revelation, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar shared insights into the return of the sacred Somnath Shivling, which was shattered by Mughal ruler Mahmud of Ghazni in 1026 AD. The spiritual leader claimed that the relic, hidden for centuries, had recently been handed over to him and would now undergo a 40-day purification ritual before its consecration.

“Anything is possible. Everything that God wills happens. This (Shivling) has those properties (of Somnath Jyotirlinga); that is how we knew what it is,” said Ravi Shankar, explaining that its authenticity was verified through its unique properties.

He further revealed that the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Peetham had ordered the sacred fragments to be safeguarded until a time when they could be entrusted to a saint named Shankara in Bangalore—a prophecy that has now come to fruition.

The twin announcements—Delhi’s Maha Aarti for Yamuna and the return of the Somnath Shivling—have sparked widespread spiritual and cultural discussions, with devotees eagerly awaiting both the purification ritual and the grand religious gathering at the Yamuna.
