Nagarkurnool: A week after the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse, the families of the eight trapped workers continue to endure an agonizing wait, urging the government to speed up rescue operations.

Among the stranded is Gurpreet Singh, the sole breadwinner of his family, whose relatives have made an emotional appeal for immediate action. “We request the government to rescue Gurpreet and all others trapped. His family, including his mother, wife, and two daughters, is in deep distress,” said Kalwan Singh, his uncle.

Massive Rescue Efforts Underway

The SLBC tunnel collapse, which occurred on February 22 near Domalapenta in Nagarkurnool district, was triggered just four days after construction resumed. While some workers managed to escape, eight remain trapped inside the debris-laden tunnel.

Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy assured families that a “foolproof plan” has been put in place to minimize risks for rescuers while accelerating the operation. Specialized teams and advanced machinery have been deployed to break through the rubble and reach the workers as soon as possible.
