Rekha Gupta Sworn In as Delhi CM, BJP Returns to Power After 27 Years

New Delhi: Rekha Gupta, a first-time BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday at a grand swearing-in ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan. This marks the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) return to power in the national capital after 27 years.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath of office to Gupta and her council of ministers. With this, Gupta becomes Delhi’s fourth woman Chief Minister, following in the footsteps of Sushma Swaraj, Sheila Dikshit, and Atishi.

The event was attended by top BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP president JP Nadda, along with several Chief Ministers and senior leaders from the party.

Gupta, who has been associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and has held key positions in the BJP Mahila Morcha, has played an active role in Delhi politics. She previously served as a councillor from North Pitampura and worked on local development projects.
