The Goa government has declared the Hindi film ‘Chhaava’, based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, tax-free in the state. The Vicky Kaushal-starrer biopic hit theatres on February 14 and has been making waves at the box office.

CM Pramod Sawant’s Announcement
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday evening to share the news, emphasizing the historical significance and inspirational story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

“It gives me pleasure to announce that the movie ‘Chhaava,’ based on the life & sacrifice of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be tax-free in Goa,” Sawant wrote.

He further highlighted that the film showcases the valor and courage of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who fought against the Mughals and the Portuguese for Dev, Desh, and Dharma.

‘Chhaava’ Witnesses Strong Box Office Growth
The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, has been performing well in cinemas. By day six, ‘Chhaava’ had already grossed ₹32 crore, inching closer to the ₹200 crore mark.

With the Goa government’s decision to make it tax-free, the film is expected to draw even larger audiences, further spreading the legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
