New Delhi: Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has urged the INDIA alliance parties to “sit together and work things out” following Congress and AAP’s heavy losses in the Delhi assembly elections. His remarks come as the alliance faces a series of electoral setbacks.

Addressing a press conference, Sibal acknowledged Congress’ efforts to collaborate but pointed out internal challenges. Citing the 2020 Bihar elections, he said, “Congress always tries to work together, but challenges arise. In Bihar, Congress was given seats but failed to win, which RJD claimed cost them power. All INDIA alliance parties must decide how to contest elections.”

Sibal also highlighted BJP’s electoral advantage under a “single command” structure, contrasting it with the INDIA bloc’s fragmented approach. “In BJP, they fight under a single leadership and benefit from it. In Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Congress fought in alliances and gained. The INDIA alliance must sort out its strategy,” he stated.

He further echoed Sharad Pawar’s view that the INDIA alliance should be seen as a national coalition rather than a state-level arrangement.
