In a stunning political shift, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal suffered a surprising defeat in the New Delhi assembly seat against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma in the 2025 Delhi elections.

Reacting to the loss, Kejriwal took to X, stating, “We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory, and I hope they will fulfill all the promises for which people have voted them. We have done a lot of work in health, education, and infrastructure over the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them.”

The BJP marked a historic return to power in Delhi after nearly three decades, decisively defeating the Kejriwal-led AAP. According to the latest Election Commission trends, BJP is leading in 47 seats, while AAP is ahead in 23.

The Congress, struggling to regain relevance, failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive election. The high-stakes battle primarily unfolded between AAP and BJP, with Congress targeting Kejriwal’s governance.

With this resounding victory, all eyes are now on the BJP to deliver on its poll promises and shape the future of the national capital.
