Milkipur, Ayodhy: In a major political setback for the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is heading for victory in the Milkipur by-election, turning the contest into a prestige battle in Ayodhya district.

After nine rounds of counting, BJP’s Chandrabhan Paswan has secured 47,176 votes, maintaining a commanding lead of over 25,000 votes against SP’s Ajit Prasad. If the trend continues, the BJP is set to wrest the Milkipur seat from SP, further strengthening its hold in the politically crucial Ayodhya region.

Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support, Paswan credited the victory to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “I thank Modi ji and Yogi ji. I thank the voters for their support. I have received huge respect and backing,” he said.

The Milkipur by-election was seen as a prestige contest, with both BJP and SP fiercely contesting for dominance. A win here would further cement BJP’s influence ahead of the upcoming elections in Uttar Pradesh.
