Mumbai: In a significant step towards economic empowerment, Janseva Cooperative Credit Society Limited organized a grand event to distribute interest-free loan cheques to members of Self-Help Groups (SHG). Women from areas like Goregaon and Mumbra actively participated, receiving financial aid designed to encourage self-reliance and uplift underprivileged sections of society.

The event was honored by the presence of Mufti Barkatullah, a prominent Islamic scholar and member of the UK Fatwa Committee. Also in attendance were Dr. Rahmatullah, Chairman of Janseva Cooperative Credit Society, and Shaikh Mohammad Saleem, National President of the Federation of Indian Trade Unions.

Addressing the gathering, Mufti Barkatullah underlined the virtues of giving, saying, “A giving hand is better than a receiving one.” He emphasized the importance of avoiding interest-based transactions and adhering to Islamic principles to achieve economic stability. He also encouraged attendees to support others once their own needs are met.

Shaikh Mohammad Saleem, the National President of the Federation of Indian Trade Unions, highlighted the transformative potential of the SHG loans. He stated, “These loans are a form of social cooperation, provided based on mutual guarantees. The primary goal is to empower weaker sections, especially women, to achieve economic independence.” He further added that such initiatives build trust and foster cooperation within the community.

The event concluded with special prayers led by Mufti Barkatullah, who sought relief from debt for the attendees. He also addressed their queries and provided valuable guidance on financial management and ethical practices.
