New Delhi: A thick blanket of fog continues to disrupt travel across North India, leading to widespread train delays and cancellations, as the region faces a chilling cold wave. The dense fog, combined with plummeting temperatures, has caused significant travel disruptions, particularly for rail passengers.

Several trains have either been cancelled or diverted, with Ayodhya Railway Station being one of the key hubs affected by the thick fog. Visuals from across the region show reduced visibility on tracks, causing delays and safety concerns.

In Agra, Uttar Pradesh, the iconic Taj Mahal was visible through a misty layer of fog, adding to the wintry charm but also highlighting the severe weather conditions impacting daily life. Similarly, the dense fog also engulfed parts of Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, severely limiting visibility.

Passengers shared their experiences of the ongoing delays. Sumit Kumar, a passenger traveling from Bihar to Prayagraj, expressed frustration as his train was delayed by one to two hours due to the low visibility caused by the fog. “The train has slowed down to reduce the risks of accidents,” he said.

Nisha, another passenger, described the discomfort of waiting at the station for a delayed train. “All the trains are running late due to the cold. We have been waiting here for a long time, and I’m uncomfortable due to the cold. It’s hard to sit due to the freezing temperatures,” she told new agency.

Meanwhile, Delhi experienced its own bout of harsh weather conditions, with the capital city being shrouded in a thick layer of fog early Tuesday morning. The cold wave gripping Delhi has brought temperatures down significantly, with the India Meteorological Department recording the temperature at 11.6 degrees Celsius at 5:30 AM. The department forecasts the minimum temperature to reach 8 degrees Celsius during the day, with a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius. Dense fog is expected to persist, further exacerbating the cold wave and disrupting daily routines.
