US: As Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20 approaches, the debate surrounding the H-1B visa program for highly skilled foreign workers has intensified, causing divisions within both major political parties in the United States.

The H-1B visa, which is primarily used to bring skilled workers from abroad, has seen a significant number of Indian professionals securing these visas. Indians have been the largest beneficiaries, with the U.S. government issuing 65,000 visas annually, along with an additional 20,000 reserved for those who have earned advanced degrees in the U.S.

Trump, who is set to become the 47th President of the United States, has expressed support for the H-1B visa program. His stance is echoed by two of his close allies, Tesla CEO Elon Musk and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who have been appointed to lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency. Both figures are strong proponents of the H-1B visa, emphasizing the importance of attracting the world’s top talent to the U.S.
