Mumbai: Valmik Karad, the prime accused in the murder of Beed Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, surrendered at the CID headquarters in Pune on December 31. His surrender comes after weeks of extensive efforts to locate him. The CID confirmed the development and took Karad into custody. Speculation about his surrender led to heavy police presence outside the office, with supporters of Maharashtra Minister Dhananjay Munde gathering at the site.
