Ahmedabad : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a powerful message on Monday, warned against forces attempting to create divisions in Indian society along lines of caste, religion, and language. Speaking via video conference at the 200th-anniversary celebration of the Shri Swaminarayan Temple in Vadtal, Gujarat, Modi underscored the importance of national unity to achieve India’s target of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
The Prime Minister highlighted that certain groups seek to fragment society based on differences, including faith, social status, and geography, thereby threatening India’s cohesion. Modi emphasized that unity is essential for India to achieve its development aspirations: “Unity among citizens and integrity of the nation is important to make India a developed nation by 2047,” he remarked, stressing the need for citizens to recognize and combat these divisive forces.
He also praised the longstanding contributions of India’s saints and sages, crediting them with guiding society toward a higher purpose and strengthening national identity, especially during crises. Reflecting on the emergence of Lord Swaminarayan during the era of colonial rule, Modi noted how spiritual leaders have historically revitalized India’s self-respect and cultural identity.
Concluding his address, Modi urged collective action to preserve the nation’s integrity and continue building a united India for future generations.
