As Coldplay’s much-anticipated India tour nears, hotel prices in Navi Mumbai have skyrocketed, with some hotels charging nearly ₹5 lakh for a three-night stay. The dramatic price hike coincides with the band’s three concerts at DY Patil Stadium on January 18, 19, and 21, 2024.
According to hotel aggregator apps, hotels within a 20-kilometer radius of the venue have seen an overwhelming surge in demand. In fact, many five-star properties, such as Courtyard by Marriott and Taj Vivanta in Vashi, are already fully booked for those dates. MakeMyTrip shows no available rooms at these hotels.
Capitalizing on the surge, some hotels are charging prices that eclipse even New Year’s Eve rates. For instance, Fortune Select Exotica, part of the ITC Hotel Group, is charging ₹2.45 lakh for a room accommodating three people for three nights. Similarly, Regenza by Tunga in Vashi has set its price at ₹4.45 lakh for the concert weekend.
Hotels that typically charge between ₹7,000 and ₹30,000 per night have hiked their prices significantly due to the high demand driven by Coldplay’s popularity. Even Fern Residency in Turbhe is pricing rooms at nearly ₹2 lakh for the concert dates.
Coldplay’s tickets, sold through BookMyShow, were snapped up within minutes, forcing the band to announce a third show on January 21 to accommodate their Indian fanbase. The immense rush for tickets has translated into massive demand for accommodations near the stadium.
With concert-goers vying for a place to stay during the performances, hotels have seized the opportunity to cash in on the excitement surrounding Coldplay’s first India tour since 2016.
